Brian Jolley — Work History
Found for AI — Co-Founder
Brian Jolley co-founded Found for AI with Dustin Crump to help small and mid-size businesses become findable by AI agents — the systems that increasingly answer questions, make recommendations, and act on behalf of real customers. Brian built the production tooling (Claude Code skills and agents), conducts AI visibility audits, implements schema markup and structured data infrastructure, designs and delivers client content pipelines, and has published a three-post series on AI access mechanics at foundforai.com/blog.
Western Governors University — Director, Service Management
Western Governors University is a non-profit, accredited, competency-based university and the nation's largest degree-granting institution. Brian Jolley was hired in 2016 when WGU had fewer than 50,000 students and played a key role in scaling service capacity as enrollment grew to over 180,000. As Director of Service Management, Brian led Knowledge Management, Problem Management, CMDB, Enterprise Systems, and Communications Infrastructure teams — overseeing a $4.5M annual budget and 30–40 direct and indirect reports. He was accountable for critical university-wide systems including ServiceNow, Genesys Cloud, and Jira/Confluence.
- Scorecards — Behavioral-economics-inspired scoring system for dev teams. Cut average outage resolution from hundreds of hours to under two. Adopted C-suite and university-wide.
- Directors' Closure Review — Cross-functional director panel for high-severity outage root cause accountability with tracked action items and due dates.
- Outage Response — University's first standardized outage response protocol with a 45-minute CIO escalation threshold, decomposed time metrics, and fire drills.
- Common Services Data Model — Championed and implemented ServiceNow CSDM. Operated ahead of ServiceNow's roadmap; their product team adopted WGU's terms and ideas. Invited to present to other ServiceNow academic clients.
- SMS Rollout — Integrated SMS messaging across five platforms for teacher-to-student communication university-wide.
Western Governors University — Director, Software Quality Assurance
Brian Jolley was hired to build WGU's software quality assurance practices from near-zero. He designed and implemented QA architecture including automation, shift-left strategies, and standardized quality metrics. He instituted standards requiring acceptance criteria, test plans, and documented test results before any code could advance to staging or production — a non-negotiable gate that forced upstream discipline through engineering and product ownership.
- QA Transformation — Used control of the test gate to force upstream discipline. Secured a dedicated stabilization quarter that reduced outage frequency and freed engineering time across the organization.
MasteryConnect — Director, Software Quality Assurance
MasteryConnect was an education technology startup empowering K–12 competency-based education programs. Brian Jolley led the development and implementation of software quality assurance practices, directing two teams of 12–16 individuals.
Struck, Inc. — Software Quality Assurance Engineer
Struck was a fast-paced advertising agency serving clients including Toyota, Jaguar USA, Utah Olympic Legacy, and Deer Valley. Brian oversaw quality verification for ad campaigns, including performance and load testing, automated mobile device compatibility, and multi-browser readiness.
